1) Available now until Sept. 1st to a mature, quiet woman. 2) From Sept. 1st, priority given to a female or male student/worker who will pay 4 months in advance up to Dec. 31st, with a saving of $50/mo. for a total of $200 saved. 35-45 min. transit from home to the UBC bus loop via frequent, express bus #99 to UBC. EXCELLENT LOCATION, close to downtown yet residential, near transit, many services & shops. We're a one-minute walk to bus #3. We're 5 blocks south of Main & Broadway, a major intersection. Main/Science World sky train station is 5-10 minutes by bus #3. It's 20-30 minutes via frequent transit & several, route options to the downtown core. Check www.translink.bc.ca for transit schedules. Starting Sept. 1st., priority given to an INTERNATIONAL STUDENT, GRADUATE or WORKER who is COMPUTER PROFICIENT, needs ENGLISH improvement & will stay for one term (Dec. 2010) or 2 terms (April (2011). A COMPUTER SCIENCE, ENGINEERING or ELECTRONIC ARTS' person would be ideal. We can do an exchange as I taught ESL. I have an M.Ed. with a focus on ecology and my background is in the arts. I will be happy to correct your English if you can help me with computer learning. All others welcome to apply in case I can't find such a person. Share 900 sq. ft., apt. with quiet, considerate, respectful, mature students/professionals. This is a comfortable, furnished, bright, modest, 3rd fl. apt. in an older building with large windows, wood floors & a balcony with partial view of the mountains. The building itself is not gorgeous but the location is very convenient & the apartment is efficiently & aesthetically designed. The apt. looks somewhat different than in these photos as I've made changes. This is a comfortable home for the right person. The lifestyle & apartment arrangement are like a library, suitable for someone who is dedicated to their studies & enjoys a disciplined, friendly, focused atmosphere. This is a 3-person apt. Sleeping area is approximately 100 sq. ft., with 2 walls, one solid partition & one curtain. You will enjoy it if you like company, a quiet atmosphere & are a sound sleeper with a community attitude. Your roommate will probably be from a different country than yours. There is a laundry in the basement & 3 more within a 5-minute walk. Included: bed, table, chair, closet, bookcase, lamps, computer (XP/Ubuntu), highest speed internet, shared phone with answering machine, cable TV, linens & bike. We are varied in age although roommates are usually in their 20's or 30's. The home language is English. Each roommate COOKS for everyone once a week, which is required. If you have no experience cooking are willing & able to learn quickly, we can discuss it. Each roommate's grocery share is $300/mo., which covers ALL OF YOUR FOOD & is required. You will not need to shop for groceries. I shop from the list roommates provide & can accommodate most diets. There are always choices. Therefore your total monthly cost is $650 for EVERYTHING. This is reasonable for a well situated place in Vancouver, the most expensive city in Canada. Starting Sept. 1st, if you pay 4 months in ADVANCE, your rent is $600/mo. for everything, a good deal for the budget-conscious. Rent can also be reduced if you wish to help out. Your only extra expense @ home is laundry @ $12/mo. if you do it once a week. The other six nights a week you would come home to a cooked meal prepared by roommates that you'd just heat up. You will save time, energy & money with this arrangement, along with maintaining your health. We eat whenever we can due to busy schedules but enjoy sharing meals when schedules jive. You would fix your own breakfast & lunch. We socialize outside home only to respect varying schedules. There are many good, inexpensive, ethnic, eating places and coffee shops a few minutes' walk away for meeting friends in. NO SMOKING ANYWHERE, inside or outside, no drinking, no drugs, 100% respectful language only. Suitable for someone without children or pets. Sorry no couples. Please send your questions.
